Process
Flower of Innovation
Besides the other Methods and Workshops that we provide, the “Flower of Innovation” is the main framework that we use to develop our projects.It mainly consists of three different methodologies merged together. The backbone of this framework is based on Design Thinking which is applied to a project defined by Systems Engineering and is managed with Agile Management methods.
Systems Engineering
Systems Engineering provides the framework within which a system can be adequately defined, analyzed, specified, manufactured, operated and supported. It includes the whole lifecycle of the system from preliminary design to operation and finally disposal.
According to ISO/IEC 15288, a system is a combination of interacting elements organized to achieve one or more stated purposes.
This brief but precise definition, is a useful statement which can help us in setting the project boundaries and identifying the stakeholders, elements and so on. Since the very purpose of every development process, regardless of the field or discipline, is to achieve some stated purpose it is possible to study it as a system.
Design Thinking
In the shortest form of explanation, Design thinking is a process for creative problem solving. As Tim Brown (CEO of IDEO) says,
Design thinking is a human-centered approach to innovation that draws from the designer’s toolkit to integrate the needs of people, the possibilities of technology, and the requirements for business success.
In its core, this method encourages organizations to focus on the people they’re creating for, which leads to better products, services, and internal processes. After defining the System for our project as it explained above, it is time to kick start the five stages of development through Design Thinking which are Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and test. These stages have been named and called differently by different companies, agencies or organizations but they always stand for the same principles.
Agile Management
Agile project management is a modern and flexible approach which allows us to break large projects down into more manageable tasks. The tasks are then tackled in short iterations or sprints. This management framework enables the development team to adapt to changes and deliver results quickly.
Scrum, Kanban, Crystal or other Agile methods will be selected and applied to the development process depending on project size, complexity, timeframe and System characteristics.
